This year, 2012, the Sto. Niño Ati-Atihan Festival 2012 of Aklan Philippines will be on January 9-15. It is their 800th year celebration. The whole province of Aklan will be full of lively and upbeat place filled with dancing, music and other merry-making activities.

Blog & Soul conducted a Digital Camera workshop last weekend at White Plains, Quezon City at the 8ten.co Studio. I learned lots of new techniques in using simple digital camera. Thanks to the Blog & Soul and to Tinee De Guzman and his professional photographer friends who thought us new tricks in taking pictures in just using a Digital Camera. I never knew how a simple digital camera of my phone (Samsung Galaxy S) can be that artistic....

The Festival of Sampaguita, a very well known in San Pedro in province of Laguna.
See school children dance on the streets of San Pedro, Laguna as they march to the end point of the Municipal Hall where they compete the last dance competition.

Hot air balloon fiesta is one of the most awaited event here in the Philippines. From old guys to young ones, its the event for all ages. These are my best shots so far from Iloilo’s 2011 Dinagyang Festival. I just hope I can go back in Iloilo next year and take some more good photos of the much awaited event of Panay.

Tribu Bolabola of Iloilo National High School won the 2nd runner-up of Dinagyang 2011 Ati competition. The tribe represented Philippines to Chinggay Festival in Singapore in 1999 and 2000 and to the World Folklore Festival and World Expo in Portugal both in 1988. The tribe has 148 warriors and dancers and 50 drummers.

Tribu Paghidaet of La Paz, Iloilo won the first runner up in Ati Competition of Dinagyang 2011. People from La Paz are devoted to Sr. Santo Nino and with the intercession of Our Lady of Good Voyage. The Tribe is composed of 62 warriors, 30 girl dancers, 30 star dancers, and 50 drummers backed by 55 staff members.

Pan-ay is formerly called Tribu ni San Pedro of Fort San Pedro National High school in Iloilo City. The group is composed of 49 warriors, 10 lead dancer, 40 drummers, and 49 props men. Tribu Pan-ay won the Iloilo’s Dinagyang 2011 Ati competition.
